Technical Manager - Engine Management

Responsibilities:
  1. Support the VP Technical – Engine Management and the Head of Technical and Asset Management in the management of CALC owned and managed aircraft powerplants (engines and APUs) primarily in the PRC region.
  2. Ensure optimum powerplant shop visit preparation and execution, and effective management of related commercial exposure.
  3. Project management of engine shop visits, engine deliveries/redeliveries and engine valuation assessments.
  4. Evaluate hardware teardown condition and repair deviations from the engine maintenance manual and suggest appropriate courses of action.
  5. Develop and maintain effective relationships with technical counterparts at OEMs and with vital service providers.
  6. Effectively communicate CALC engine shop visit requirements in accordance with lease agreements and/or CALC standard operating procedures.
  7. Support in identifying and managing emerging powerplant issues and the assessment and mitigation of technical risks.
  8. Assist with CALC maintenance exposure assessments including shop visit forecasts and shop visit work-scope assessment.
  9. MR claim assessment and validation.
  10. Invoice de-construction when applicable, trending/findings assessment – identification of cost drivers.
  11. Service Bulletin technical and commercial assessment
  12. Monitor engine and APU portfolio utilization and ensure data accuracy of engines and APUs.
  13. Supporting the execution of technical aspects of the Group’s strategy.
  14. Support special projects as required.
  15. Performing ad hoc duties and travels as assigned by the Company.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
  2. Proven relevant background in a technical role in an engine leasing company and/or airline(s) with proven experience in managing the delivery and/or transition of large jet engines.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
  4. Experience with engine overhaul processes and engine hardware, assembly, operation and testing.
  5. Experience using engine manuals and assessing service bulletins and airworthiness directives (ADs).
  6. Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline preferred.
  7. A self-starting/self-motivated team player with multi-tasking ability and strong interpersonal skills will be an ideal candidate for this position.
  8. Proficient with MS Excel, Adobe PDF, MS Word and Outlook.
  9. Proven experience in budget preparation, management of engine shop visits and engine valuation assessment.
  10. Excellent understanding of aviation regulations, both EASA and FAA.
  11. Ability to work in a multi-regional and multi-cultural working environment.
  12. Experience in the purchase of new and used engines would be an advantage but is not vital.
    1. Willingness to travel extensively in support of CALC’s global business strategy.
